Volleyball is a great team sport that teaches many life lessons such as commitment, time management, and character. All players must work together in order for the team to meet its goals and succeed. There are off season opportunities for middle school aged girls to get involved in volleyball through a couple in-house volleyball leagues. We will run an early bird league beginning in November and finishing in December. There will also be a spring bird league in April and May. Both leagues will be run as a satellite through Wisconsin Volleyball Academy. Our intention is to provide an opportunity for players that is not too far away, too costly, or too demanding of time to take away from girls studies or ability to contribute in multiple sports all year long. There are also more highly competitive traveling tournament teams in the area for girls with accelerated skills including Wisconsin Volleyball Academy WVA wivbacademy.com, Fox Cities Elite fcelite.org, De Pere Diggers deperediggers.com, and WI Power Green Bay wisconsinpower.net/gb. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions as to what might be the most worthwhile investment of time and resources and tryout deadlines. There are also many parents in the Wrightstown volleyball community that may be great resources for information as well. The Tiger Volleyball program begins practice the 3rd week of August starting with tryouts on Monday and Tuesday. Practice times may vary before school starts with practices being held right after school in September and October. Our high school program currently has participants to support Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams. We support 2 teams at both the 7th and 8th grade levels for middle school. Returning and incoming high school volleyball players are able to participate in 5 summer contact coaching days between the end of school and July 31st. Those dates will be posted on school calendar and emailed out to the Tiger Volleyball Program. There are also 2 summer leagues that our JV and Varsity level will participate in. The developmental league will consist of 3 dates beginning at 10 am and finishing by 2 pm. The girls of summer league will be 4 Fridays, 2 in June and 2 in July), beginning at 9 am and finishing by 3 pm. These are non contact days for players to get 6 on 6 play opportunities versus stronger teams in our region. The rest of the summer we encourage volleyball players to play doubles, triples, or quads in the sand. Less people promotes more contacts and more fun while building skills, speed, and strength.
