Fishing Club
Advisor: Mr. Olson
Students can participate and compete in different ways through the club and the WIFA (Wisconsin Interscholastic Fishing Association). The WIFA sponsors several competitions annually throughout the state and a State Championship Ice Fishing tournament. In addition to the tournaments, students can compete for the title of Master Angler. There are 34 different species of fish on the list, each with its own size limit. Students can earn three different “titles” by catching a certain number of fish. The title of Master Angler of the Year goes to any student who catches all 34 species throughout the year. Students can fish anywhere in the state, open water or ice fishing. If they catch a fish of qualifying size, they take a picture and register it on the WIFA website. If they catch all 34, they are recognized at the State tournament with a plaque. There are other honors, if a student catches 15 different species and another if they catch only four species. To learn more, you may visit the WIFA website: https://studentfishing.com/master-angler.html or their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=wisconsin%20 interscholastic%20 fishing

The Spanish Club promotes enthusiasm for learning the Spanish language and culture. This club is open to all High School Spanish students. The club meets once a month in Room 312 at 7:40 a.m. Members are required to attend the meetings. The students decide the projects and activities for the year. We go to authentic Mexican restaurants to experience Mexican cuisine. Every other June, students from the Spanish Club go to a Spanish-speaking country such as Mexico, Costa Rica or Peru.
In June 2024, we are traveling to Peru or Costa Rica. We sell Seroogy Easter candy in the spring to raise money for the trip. We sell VandeWalle’s candy bars throughout the year. Also, we run concession stands for sporting events to raise money as well. Furthermore, we collect money to purchase school supplies at a store in Peru for an impoverished school. During our trip, we visit the school and did a volunteer project to improve the school grounds. It is a way to give back to those less fortunate. If you are interested in joining the Spanish Club, please attend a meeting or email Mrs. Barnes at Barnes@Wrightstown.k12.wi.us. The code for Google Classroom is fbl757a.
